Cooling system installed ahead of deadline despite legacy engineering issues.

CHALLENGE

Queensland X-Ray has more than 40 practices across Brisbane, Ipswich, the Gold Coast, Toowoomba, the Darling Downs, Mackay, Townsville and Cairns. They are proud to employ some of the most experienced radiologists and nuclear imaging specialists in the state and are focused on providing the best service, care and clinical outcomes for their patients.

THE CLIENT

The installation of Queensland X-Ray's cooling and exhaust system presented a number of challenges, not least because it was a large job (valued at over $500,000) and needed to be completed within a very short period of time.
While installing the required system, PREH identified a number of engineering issues which were a legacy of the original building owners. These had to be mitigated to ensure the success of the finished system.

ENGINEERING SOLUTION

PREH installed the complete practice solution ahead of deadline – including a cooling and exhaust solution for the client's MRI, CT, X-Ray, Operating Theatre, Doctor's Office and Ultrasound facilities.
The team not only rectified the engineering issues that were discovered but also installed three chilled water AHU's with heater banks and independent controls for each room, ensuring operators were easily able to adjust environmental controls for patient comfort. The MRI also was serviced with chilled water cooling via a heat exchanger and temperature/humidity control via a CRAC unit in the equipment room.
